Free logo makers in 2026: what you actually get for free

“Free” means something different at every logo maker: one lets you download the vector file, another a single PNG, another nothing until you pay. Here are ten tools anyone looking for a logo in Romania runs into, side by side on the questions worth asking before the first click: what you can download without paying, with or without a watermark, in which format, whether they work in Romanian and what they want in return.

by Updated 12 min readCitește în română

This guide is published by RHAM, one of the ten tools. We created no accounts and downloaded nothing from the others: every cell in the tables comes from that tool's own pricing, help or product page, opened on 3 October 2026 and listed at the end. Where a page says nothing, the table says “not stated” rather than guessing. RHAM's row is read from the product's own plans and code, including what it lacks.

What you can download free, with or without a watermark

Checked: 3 October 2026. The first question is the one that matters most: what is left in your hands if you do not pay. A vector means SVG, PDF or EPS, the files that scale without breaking and that printers ask for; why that matters is in logo file formats.

“Free” here means what you can download without paying, not what you can only look at on screen. Prices are the ones shown to a visitor in Romania on the day of the check, and they change often, so the date matters.

The second question is what else comes with the logo and which language you can work in. For diacritics we looked for anything each tool says about letters such as ă, ș and ț, or é and ü. Almost none says anything, so the test is yours to run, with your own name, before you download.

Where you really download without paying

Canva, Adobe Express and Shopify hand you the file without payment. Canva gives PNG, JPG and PDF on the Free plan; SVG and transparent backgrounds need Pro, and if your design uses a Pro element you either pay for its licence or download a watermarked draft. Adobe Express gives PNG, JPG and PDF; the logo downloads as a 500 × 500 px square, and for a transparent background or a resolution that scales, Adobe points you to PNG or PDF. Shopify says the logo is entirely free and yours to own, but the page does not say which format you get, so check when you download.

If you use Canva's AI generator, two more things are worth knowing: it asks for an account, and Canva says you may not have exclusive rights to what the AI generates. For a mark you plan to register, that matters; the details are in RHAM vs Looka, Canva and Brandmark.

Free, with a condition: Picsart, Logo.com, Wizlogo, Design.com

  • Picsart generates a limited number of logos for free, then asks for a subscription or credits. You save as PNG, JPG or PDF, and the page says plainly that once a logo is generated you cannot rearrange its elements or change its colours: for another version, you generate again.
  • Logo.com gives you one logo on the Free plan, as a PNG only. The SVG, the AI file and the brand guidelines are on the paid plans, which are subscriptions rather than one-off payments.
  • Wizlogo has a free logo, but with a personal-use licence only. For a business you need a paid package: €39.99 once for PNG and JPG, €3.99 a week for unlimited logos, or €299.99 for the Business package, the one with SVG.
  • Design.com has a collection of free logos that come with all the standard files. What you make with its AI tools cannot be downloaded from a free account, paid logos carry a watermark until you buy the licence, and the licence comes with a subscription. The fonts in the logo are not downloadable.

AI logo generators: CapCut and Dreamina

CapCut and Dreamina, CapCut's image app, both have Romanian pages for making a logo with AI. CapCut's page calls its generator completely free; CapCut's help centre says, however, that AI image generation uses credits and that when you run out it asks you to buy more or upgrade to Pro. Dreamina gives free daily credits and says its logos come without watermarks.

What you get is a picture, not a vector drawing: CapCut exports JPG or PNG, and Dreamina says SVG or EPS export is not a verified capability and recommends a vector tool for the final file. The weak point is text. CapCut's help says AI cannot reliably write correct text and that you add the name afterwards with the text editor; if the name has letters like ă, ș or é, check it letter by letter. Why a generated image cannot stand in for the master file is in AI logo generators.

Looka: free until you download

Looka lets you design, edit and save logos for free; downloading is paid. The $35 package is a single 1000 × 1000 px PNG on a coloured background; vectors (SVG, EPS and PDF) start at $72, and the Brand Kit subscription is $96 a year. The site and help centre are in English.

RHAM, including what it does not do

On Solo, the free plan, you export the logo as SVG, PDF, EPS, PNG up to 2048 px and a favicon, with no watermark, plus the palette, the type, the brand guidelines as a PDF and a presentation site. The complete ZIP archive of the kit is missing; it is on Studio and Agency. For the company name, the engine only picks typefaces that carry ă, ș and ț: a face without them is skipped, not patched with another face's letters, and in the studio every typeface previews your name before you choose it. The engine can be tried without an account on the Romanian logo maker page; to save and export you create a free account, confirmed by email.

  • The marks are geometric: monograms, symbols and wordmarks, no illustration or mascots.
  • On Solo, the brand copy is written by the local engine, in Romanian or English; the interface has five languages.
  • A site published on rham.ro carries a small “Built with RHAM” badge; the one downloaded as a folder does not.
  • No trademark check: whether the name or the mark is free to register is yours to search.

How to make a logo yourself, for free

  1. 01Write down what it has to contain: the company's exact name and, if you want one, a mark that also works on its own. The variants you need are in how to design a logo.
  2. 02Choose the tool by what it lets you download free, not by its gallery. If the logo will go on a sign, a van or a T-shirt, you need a vector.
  3. 03Type the name with every accent it has and look at each letter: some typefaces lack letters such as ș and ț, and the software borrows them from another face, in a different design.
  4. 04Download every variant: horizontal, stacked, mark only, single-colour, on a dark background.
  5. 05Read the licence, commercial or personal only, and search the trademark registers before you print. The steps for Romania are in trademark registration in Romania.

How to choose

  • You want a free vector and you work in Romanian: RHAM. For an illustration or a mascot you need a person; see designer, agency or AI generator.
  • You want a quick logo for social media and already work in Canva: Canva's Free plan, minding the Pro elements.
  • You want to explore ideas with AI: CapCut, Dreamina or Picsart, then rebuild the chosen logo as a vector and check the name letter by letter.
  • You want to start from a ready-made template: Design.com's free collection, or Logo.com's Free plan with its single PNG.
  • You have a budget for files: the Looka, Wizlogo and Design.com packages are in the table; what designers and studios charge is in how much does a logo cost.

Frequently asked

Is a free logo maker really free?
It depends on the tool. Designing is free almost everywhere; downloading, less often. Canva, Adobe Express, Shopify and RHAM hand you the file without payment, Logo.com a single PNG, Wizlogo a logo for personal use only, and at Looka downloading is paid. A vector (SVG, PDF or EPS) is free at RHAM and, according to Design.com, with the logos in its free collection, which come with all the standard files; elsewhere it is paid, missing from the list, or the page does not say.
Which free logo maker has no watermark?
Of the pages checked, Dreamina says its logos come without watermarks, and RHAM puts none on the files. Canva adds one only to a draft that uses Pro elements you have not paid for, and Design.com keeps one on paid logos until you buy the licence. The other pages do not say.
Which free logo maker gives me an SVG?
RHAM, on its free plan, and Design.com for the logos in its free collection. Canva, Logo.com, Looka and Wizlogo put SVG on a paid plan or package; Picsart and Adobe Express do not list it; CapCut exports JPG or PNG, and Dreamina says SVG export is not a verified capability; Shopify's page does not say which formats you get.
Can I make a logo with AI for free?
Yes, within limits: Canva allows up to 20 AI uses a month on its Free plan, Picsart a limited number of generations, Dreamina free daily credits, while CapCut's help centre says its AI image generation uses credits. What comes out is an image rather than a vector, and the lettering needs checking. RHAM's mark is drawn by a procedural engine rather than an image model; you can try it on your own brief with a free account.
What is the best free logo maker?
There is no single best one. For a free vector and work in Romanian, RHAM; for social media material alongside the logo, Canva; for AI-generated ideas, CapCut, Dreamina or Picsart, with the name checked at the end. This guide is written by RHAM, which is why the tables give you the data to choose for yourself.
