Looka alternatives: RHAM vs Looka, Canva and Brandmark

Look for a Looka alternative or a free logo maker and the same names keep coming up: Looka, Canva, Brandmark. All three make logos; they differ in what you can download without paying, whether you get vector files and what the terms say about rights. Here they are side by side, with RHAM next to them and its limits included.

This guide is published by RHAM, one of the four products compared. That is why everything it says about the others comes from their official pages, read on 30 September 2026 and listed at the end, and why the table also shows where RHAM does worse. None of the products was bought or tested: this compares what each one promises in writing.

“Free” here means what you can download without paying, not what you can only look at on screen. For languages, what counts is what each product's official site and help centre offer.

Looka: vectors from $72, no exclusive symbol

Looka generates logos from your company name; you edit and save them for free, but downloading is paid. Basic, $35, is a single 1000 × 1000 px PNG. The vectors (SVG, EPS, PDF) and the transparent, black and white versions are in Premium, $72, paid once. After purchase you can change anything except the company name. The Brand Kit subscription ($96 a year, $129 with a website) adds brand guidelines, business cards and more than 300 templates.

For registering the mark, something else matters: Looka says the copyright covers the logo as a whole, not its elements, and its symbols and fonts stay in its database after purchase. The symbol in your logo can be picked by other people too.

Canva: free in PNG, vectors only on Pro

Canva is a design editor with more than 1.6 million free templates and an AI logo generator. On the Free plan you download PNG, JPG or PDF; SVG and transparent PNG start at Pro (60 lei a month or 480 lei a year, the prices shown in Romania). A free design with Pro elements must be paid for or downloaded as a watermarked draft. The interface is available in Romanian, and websites, presentations and social media material are included on Free too.

The important limit is trademarks: anyone can use the logo templates, so your rights are non-exclusive and a logo made from a template cannot be registered as a trademark. Only one made with fonts, simple lines and shapes, or your own artwork can be; exclusive rights to a library graphic are not for sale.

Brandmark: pay once, vectors from $35

Brandmark generates for free, without an account, and sells for a one-time payment, with no subscription. Basic, $35, includes PNG and vector files; the site names SVG, PNG and PDF as its export formats. Designer, $95, adds brand guidelines, a one-page website, business cards and social media designs; Enterprise, $195, up to ten hand-crafted concepts and the font. The pricing page promises full copyright, for commercial and personal use, and changes even after purchase. The site is in English only.

RHAM, including what it does not do

On Solo, the free plan, you get two projects, one seat, one published site and three AI mockup renders a month. The logo exports as SVG, PDF, EPS and PNG, plus a favicon, and stays editable. The complete brand-kit ZIP archive is missing; it is on the paid plans. The terms say the exported files are yours, free plan included, with no need to credit RHAM, and every typeface allows commercial use.

The paid plans, Studio and Agency, add projects, AI-written copy, mockups and team seats, not formats. They open once the company is registered; until then Solo is free for everyone and the site takes no payments.

  • The marks are geometric: monograms, symbols and wordmarks from 28 families. No illustration or mascots.
  • No huge library: 60 starting briefs and ten site designs, not millions of templates as in Canva.
  • Limited mockups: three a month on Solo.
  • Brand copy only in Romanian and English: the interface has five languages, the local engine writes in two.
  • No trademark check: availability at a trademark office, at EUIPO or as a company name is yours to search.

What about Adobe Express?

Adobe Express has a free logo maker too: you download PNG (transparent included), JPG or PDF, but SVG is not among the formats. The Brand Kit is Premium only, €12.09 a month including VAT in Romania, and its marketing site has no Romanian version, although the app does. It is not in the table because its official pages say nothing about registering a logo made from its templates as a trademark.

How to choose

  • A logo plus plenty of ready-made material, no trademark: Canva or Looka's Brand Kit subscription.
  • Vectors for a one-time payment: Brandmark Basic ($35) or Looka Premium ($72), where the symbol is not exclusive.
  • A mark you will register: avoid elements from shared libraries; the steps for Romania are in trademark registration in Romania.
  • The whole system free, with a geometric mark: RHAM. For an illustration or a mascot you need a designer; see designer, agency or AI generator.

Why the vector matters at the printer is in logo file formats; the kinds of generator, in AI logo generators; what other tools give away, from Picsart and Shopify to CapCut and Design.com, in free logo makers in 2026; designers' prices, in how much does a logo cost. You can try RHAM on your own brief with a free account.

Frequently asked

Is RHAM a free alternative to Looka?
For the files, yes: the vectors in Looka's $72 Premium package are on RHAM's free plan. The rest differs. Looka works from a library of symbols and has subscriptions with hundreds of templates; RHAM builds only geometric marks, but also gives you the strategy, palette, type, guidelines and website.
Can I trademark a logo made in Canva?
Not if it is made from a template or contains graphics from Canva's library: Canva says your rights are then non-exclusive and the logo cannot be registered as a trademark. One made only with fonts, simple lines and shapes, or your own artwork can be. Either way, search the trademark database first.
Which of these logo makers has a Romanian interface?
Canva and RHAM; the Looka and Brandmark sites are in English only. The list of languages for Canva AI on its pricing page does not include Romanian, while RHAM's local engine writes the brand copy in Romanian or English.
Why does the table quote Canva in lei?
Canva shows local prices by country. These are the ones its pricing page showed a visitor in Romania on 30 September 2026: Pro at 60 lei a month or 480 lei a year. Elsewhere the price and currency differ, so check the page from where you are.
